INTRODUCTION
Pharmaceutical Care Practice is changing continuously and is driven by many factors such as a growing patient population, shortages in available resources, and a continuous demand for higher quality, safer care and lower costs. These influences have contributed to a new healthcare environment and a growing need for practice reform.
To achieve optimal outcomes in this new environment a pharmacy practice model has to be implemented that is able to optimize patient outcomes while overcoming emerging challenges. It needs to provide futuristic practices that enables pharmacists and pharmacy leaders to shape the future.
A model that has been developed to meet these demands is the Practice Advancement Initiative (PAI).
This model directs the pharmacist from a product-focus to a patient-centered integrated model while ensuring the safe and effective use of medications and resources in all practice settings.
It also assists pharmacists and pharmacy leaders to be in sync with best practices on different areas such as clinical pharmacy practice, medication distribution, pharmacist training and credentials, impact of technology, improvement of safe medication use, allocation of resources according to complexity of patients and organizational needs and roles of pharmacy staff.
To share the framework of this new model and disseminate its futuristic practices, we have organized this Conference under the theme “Pharmaceutical Care Practice: Overcoming Challenges, Optimizing Outcomes, and Shaping the Future”. The Conference has been designed to provide an innovative and comprehensive overview of the latest developments in the PAI-model and practical steps for implementation.
Many distinguished international and regional speakers will take part to share their experience, success stories, and achievements. The speakers will provide the latest updates and strategies through a series of lectures, interactive panel discussions, and workshops on several specialty topics. The conference targets a variety of audience namely Physicians, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Assistants, Nurses, Pharmacy Residents and Students as well as other healthcare professionals.
We hope that you will enjoy this Conference and that your interaction with colleagues from many different places will stimulate exchange of ideas, will be personally rewarding, and that it will help to advance national pharmacy practice.
We look forward to welcoming you in our conference, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
